Bhawana Tulachan is an illustrator and designer based in Kathmandu, Nepal. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in Graphic Communication from Kathmandu University Centre for Art and Design.
She works with paper collage and textures to create illustrations. Besides children’s books, she dabbles in jewelry design, ceramics, and crafts.
Bhawana is the recipient of the Best Illustrated Children’s Book Award 2014 from the Nepalese Society of Children’s Literature (NESCHIL) for her illustrations in the book Malai Man Parcha. She was also a Road to COP26 Innovation Grant Awardee in 2021, recognized for her sustainable toy design project, Mhendo Play. The grant programme was an initiative led by the British Council Nepal in partnership with Kathmandu University, Applied Arts Scotland, and Edinburgh Napier University.
